J Brand launched in the spring of 2005, and met instant success with the introduction of its skinny straight leg style. Their skinny straight leg was a gutsy move because, at the time, all other designer labels were in full production of low rise boot cuts. This successful launch was no small piece of luck though, because behind the J Brand jeans label are two industry heavyweights with impeccable taste.

Jeff Rudes and Susie Crippen are the co-founders of J Brand and they each bring unique experience to the company. Rudes is a denim manufacturer whose resume includes the wildly popular launch of Paris 2000 jeans in the 1970s, and the Area Code brand in the 1980s. Through the 1990s, he partnered with Ron Herman and Adriano Goldschmied (founder of GoldSign jeans) to produce a line of denim sportswear sold under the A. Gold E. brand. In the late 1990s, Rudes became the largest supplier of private label jeans to Abercrombie & Fitch, dramatically increasing that retailer's popularity and success.

Crippen brings years of hands-on experience to J Brand through her work as a Hollywood stylist, editorial writer for top fashion magazines, and creative force behind advertising campaigns for Levi's and Puma. It is Crippen's vision which dictates the exquisitely simple, tasteful lines of the J Brand label.

Adriano Goldschmied is the force behind the GoldSign label. GoldSign jeans are referred to as semi-couture because of the exquisite detail given to hand stitching during the production process. Goldschmied is notable for many innovations in product development, including the introduction of superfine denim woven with Pima cotton, along with a new indigo known as 'Edge'.

Unique to GoldSign are the names like 'Passion' and 'Envy' this brand bestows on each jeans style it produces. Like J Brand and Anlo jeans, the GoldSign brand has a huge Hollywood fan base, and celebs wearing this label are a common site.
